Patriotic Show/Hedgehog

This week the second grade performed patriotic songs for President's Day.

Ms. P. brought a hedgehog for us to meet.  She told us where they live, what they eat, and that hedgehogs are nocturnal.  Ms. P. showed us that hedgehogs can roll up into a ball to protect themselves. We actually got to practice that. Mostly everyone took turns patting his quills!

Superfish/New England Aquarium

Wow I have some catching up to do! Before we went to the Aquarium,  Mr. Musselman paid a visit to tell us about many things we find in the ocean.  He brought mussel shells, scallop shells, lobster claws, a sharks jaw (with teeth) and a really big fish and it's parts. He also had a real octopus everyone could see and touch.  It was a wonderful prep for our trip.

We had a great time at the aquarium! We saw seals, hermit crabs, lobsters, sharks, turtles, sea horses, octopus and penguins.  The ray touch tank was the favorite! It was the perfect way to finish our ocean unit. (Sorry for the dark pictures!)

Fish Day

Friday we celebrated Fish Day.  Five of the kindergarten classrooms were set up with different ocean activities.  Each child could go between the rooms independently, doing their projects.  Everyone was very proud of their creations.  All of the items were hung in the hall to create our own aquarium! We would like to thank Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Kosinski for their help in the classroom.
